Before the production, Peter Gabriel, Bryan Adams and Paul Williams auditioned to voice Lyle when Mendes was chosen. It was a bit weird to see a CGI crocodile, with the voice of a pop singer, but this is a cute film, a few small parts, Hector, Lyle original owner, was in the shower and Mr . Soon, the Primm family -- teacher dad (Scoot McNairy), cookbook author mom (Constance Wu), and their young son, Josh ( Winslow Fegley) -- moves into the house.

Expect a bit of peril: Animal control shoots a tranquilizer gun to sedate Lyle, and, in a moment of humor, he accidentally swallows a cat whole. Even my tweens enjoyed it bc the boy is a middle schooler, and one was humming the music from it later in the day. Universal Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Australia (UNISPHE) is a Joint Venture between Universal and Sony Home Entertainment.This isn't one of those family films with wink-wink double entendres and jokes; it's geared firmly at single-digit-age audiences (with the possible exception of Mendes superfans who want to support everything the singer-turned-voice actor does).

The film was released on Netflix in the United States on February 4, 2023, where it will stream for 18 months due to a "pay 1 window" deal with Netflix and Sony and a "pay 2 window" deal with Sony and Disney+ or Hulu shortly after. This warm, sweet children's book adaptation does its "crocodile in the city" story justice but doesn't quite rise to Paddington-level greatness.Seeing Lyle as an opportunity to become rich in the talent business, he places his three-story Victorian brownstone house as collateral for their performance, but Lyle experiences stage fright during the premiere and Hector loses the house. Despite practicing for weeks to put on a song-and-dance show, Lyle freezes in front of an audience, forcing Hector to go on the road and leave Lyle behind in their Upper East Side townhouse's attic. Prepare to bring home the magic and music of Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile just in time for the holiday season when it arrives on digital on November 22 and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on December 13.
